Congrats to all involved and thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience!
My experience in Ireland
When I came here l was scared about what would happen. Starting a new year in the high school is not always easy but if you are in a foreign country more.
But since the first day l knew I would like it. Everybody was so nice with me, teachers and pupils, the classes were very good: very funny, entertaining and educational.
You have a lot of different kinds of classes: classes where you are sitting listening to the teachers and making homework in your notebook. And also, classes when you are moving, playing, not working just in a notebook but you are doing things with the knowledge that you have learned.
I like the facilities too. My favourite was the opened playground made with field surrounded by trees. In Vigo, where we live, it’s all buildings and noise; but here you are surrounded by little houses and trees everywhere. Your air is more pure and the sound is silent. It’s like in a fairy-tale village.
Thank you everybody for make this experience one that I’ll never forget.
Yours
Martin Vicente Fabregas
Ireland v Rest of the World Soccer
Our Spanish students (with the help of more of our international students) played a selection of our Irish students in an Ireland v Rest of the World soccer game. The game was keenly contested with conditions being quite different to what our Spanish counterparts were used to. The game was even throughout with the CBS students taking an early 1.0 lead. However the international students struck back quickly to tie the game at 1.1. The greater experience of the difficult conditions stood to the CBS students as the game progressed and they scored 2 goals to seal a 3.1 victory. It was a great game throughout with Robbie Crowe providing excellent guidance to our Spanish students. Well done to all.

1st Years CBS Football Blitz
We went to Miltown to play in the 1st year football Blitz against other teams. The team were Ennistimon Vocational School, Mary Immaculate Lisdoonvarna, St Josephs Spanish Point and finally the best of the lot the Christian Brothers Secondary School Ennistimon. We split into three teams and played the schools. The most competitive one was when we played Lisdoonvarna. We won by a point. The keeper at the end of our side pulling of a great save and packed up by some great defending. It was a great match but not so much as the referee gave them a red card because he had forgotten his yellow card. We had a great time and so did the other schools. As we are looking forward to another succesful games throught out the year through 1st year to 6th year.

U16 Basketball
The U16 basketball team travelled to Galway to play Castlerea Community Scoil and Carraroe. In the first game against castlerea, the boys found the going difficult against their much more experienced opponents. Despite a great effort from Cillian Devitt with 10 points, their opponents were too strong and ended up winners on a final score of 32 19.
In the second game of the tournament, a much improved performance from the CBS boys almost got them their first victory. After a slow start, we found ourselves trailing 15-2 at half time. However, the second half was when this group of players finally started to play some exciting basketball and with scores from Ciarán McMahon and Ryan Barry, the CBS made a great comeback in the second half. With 2 minutes to go the game was in the balance but Carraroe finished stronger and won on a final scoreline of 30-28. This was a much improved performance from these lads and sets them up for the rest of the league where they will hopefully pick up a few wins.
U19 Basketball
CBS Ennistymon bowed out of the the u-19 schools cup today against a very talented Colaiste na Piarsaigh from Cork. The North Clare school recorded two wins in the Western Regional league recently, but could not prevent Irish u-18 International Cian Heaphy from scoring 36 points in the Glanmire Community Hall. In the first quater both teams gave a great display of outside shooting with Heaphy showing his class from the perimeter. The Ennistymon side responded with great accuracy from Calium Burke and James Leigh also hitting 3’s. It was basket for basket right up to half time and only one point separated the teams. In the second half the Ennistymonn boys were starting to get into serious foul trouble sending Cian Heaphy to the free throw line on seven occasions. Some great skill from Giovanni Tognon scoring 15 points and excellent rebounding from Conor Dillon and Brendan Monaghan kept Ennistymon very much in the game. Early in the last quarter four of their players Leigh, Monaghan,Togon and Ross Clair fouled out and the Cork side went on to win the game by 9 points.
