The Munster Schools Indoor Games

The Munster Schools Indoor Games took place on Tuesday March 6th 2018 at the Nenagh Olympic Indoor track.

Twelve athletes represented the CBS at different disciplines on the day from sprints, middle distance, shot putt, long jumps to relays.  The Mono boys did us proud putting up some fine performances with over 1000 athletes from schools around Munster.   Our athlete of the day was Cillian Mc Groary who took a silver medal in the 600m race.  Marc O Loughlin, Josh Guyler and Liam cotter contested the 60m sprints with Marc and Josh coming out of their heats and into a highly contested semi final, Josh just loosing out on a place in the final by a very narrow margin.  Marc put in a superb performance in the final.  Our first years of Eanna Rouine, Joshua Vaughan, Eoghan O Leary and Eamon Deverux had their first taste of the Schools Athletics and were delighted with their performances on the day. Tommy Nunan had a fine 4th place finish in a very fast 1200m  race.  The relays at the end of the day were the highlight and the noise level within the stadium was deafening In the Junior catergory there were over twenty seven team and what a performance by our boys the team of Diarmuid fahy, Cillian Mc Groary, Marc O loughlin and Josh Guyler all ran brilliant 200m legs each and were gutted to be put out of the medals by just 200ths of a second. But they are adamant that they will challenge again the next day.  There was also fine performances from our middle distance athletes of Keith Barry and Declan Devereux on the day.  A great day out and the lads are looking forward to the outdoor competition which will take place in early May.  Thanks to Darragh Miniter 5th year who looked after the boys and helped out on the day.
